The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Chad Gaffield, O.C., FRSC, and Douglas Ruth, FCAE.
Chad Gaffield, O.C., FRSC, is Professor of History and University Research Chair in Digital Scholarship at the University of Ottawa. An expert on the sociocultural history of 19th and 20th century Canada, Dr. Gaffield served as President and CEO of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) from 2006 to 2014. He is also President Elect of the Royal Society of Canada. Dr. Gaffield served on the CCA’s Scientific Advisory Committee from 2015 to 2017. Douglas (Doug) Ruth, FCAE, is Professor and Dean Emeritus, Associate Dean (Design Education), NSERC Chair in Design Engineering, and Director of the Centre for Engineering Professional Practice and Engineering Education, University of Manitoba. He is a Fellow, and current President, of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, as well as a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, and Engineers Canada.
