AI is evolving rapidly and has the potential to influence how evidence is gathered, analyzed, communicated, and weighed for decision-making. This presents opportunities for speeding up some parts of the CCA assessment process, enabling new research approaches, and identifying additional sources of expertise. It also raises important challenges about quality, reliability, bias, transparency, privacy and accountability.
As an organization dedicated to delivering independent, expert-curated, and trusted knowledge to decision-makers, the CCA is proceeding deliberately and thoughtfully in our use of AI. As we navigate this new reality, the CCA remains fully accountable for all of its work. AI does not replace expert judgment, deliberation, peer review, or human oversight. Responsibility for the knowledge we create, publish, and share always rests with the CCA.
We are committed to ongoing learning, evidence gathering, and evaluation to better understand where AI can add value, where it creates risks, and how it can be used responsibly to support Canada’s decision-makers and those impacted by their decisions. As we proceed, we will share what we learn to support the appropriate use of AI in evidence-based decision-making across the country that advances, rather than hinders, Canada and its people.
