Benoît Dupont

Benoît Dupont is a Professor of Criminology at the Université de Montréal as well as the Canada Research Chair for Cybersecurity and the Research Chair for the Prevention of Cybercrime. Professor Dupont also serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cyber Thread Exchange and as a member of CATAAlliance’s Cybercrime Advisory Council.

Professor Dupont researches the organizational and technological aspects of changes in the public and private security sectors including identity theft, bank fraud, information pirating, telecommunications fraud, and emerging cyber-security policies. He also evaluates the technological components needed to create a secure environment to understand how they are developed, marketed, used, and sometimes evaded. Professor Dupont’s other research interests include governance of security, community policing, and public-private networks of security. He also has expertise in policing in Quebec and has co-authored several books on the subject.

Professor Dupont is a member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists of the Royal Society of Canada.
