Dr. Kelly Bronson is a Canada Research Chair in Science and Society at University of Ottawa. She is a social scientist studying the science-society relationship, including tensions which erupt around controversial technologies and their governance ― from GMOs to hydraulic fracturing to big data. Her research aims to bring community values and social considerations into evidence-informed decision-making on technology.

Dr. Bronson holds a PhD in Communication and Culture from York University, and an MA in Sociology of Science from the University of Saskatchewan. She worked for three years as the Director of a Science and Technology Studies program at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick before coming to the University of Ottawa where she co-leads a cluster on inclusive innovation for the Institute for Science, Society and Policy.

She has published her work in regional (Journal of New Brunswick Studies), national (Canadian Journal of Communication) and international journals (Journal of Responsible Innovation, Big Data and Society) and has received numerous research awards. She regularly advises on technical policy decisions such as impact assessments.
