Marie‐ Ève Carignan, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Communication of the Université de Sherbrooke and Co-Holder and Head of Media Division of the UNESCO Chair in Prevention of Radicalisation and Violent Extremism. Her research focuses mainly on the impact of media in society, misinformation, risk and crisis communication and communication strategies.

She has contributed to several collective works and she published in national and international journals in communication, health, journalism and history, such as Corporate Communications: An International Journal (Emerald Literati Awards), International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health and Communication & Professionalization La revue du Réseau international sur la professionnalisation des communicateurs (RESIPROC).

Professor Carignan has obtained numerous research grants, including funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to study the communication strategies of public health actors in the context of COVID‐19, as well as funding from the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation du Québec and the Department of National Defence of Canada to analyze the impacts of misinformation, the rise of conspiracy theory, and the effectiveness of prevention tools in the context of the current pandemic.
