Marie-Jean Meurs, PhD, is a Full Professor of computer science (AI) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and co-Chair of the Quebec Research Chair on the discoverability of scientific content in French. Her work focuses on machine learning for natural language processing and decision support. Scientific Director of Calcul Québec (2020-2024), where she continues to be involved as outgoing scientific director (2024- ), she is also Vice-President of the Researchers’ Council of Digital Research Alliance of Canada. Marie-Jean Meurs is a member of the Centre Universitaire de Recherche sur la Science et la Technologie (CIRST), Canada’s leading interdisciplinary research group. Her research projects are multidisciplinary, particularly in mental health, the environment, and law. Her work emphasizes the independence of her team, approaches that respect people and environmental resources, and the principles of open science.
