Dr. Randi Zlotnik Shaul is Director of the Department of Bioethics at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). In that role, she actively engages in bioethics consultation, policy development, education and bioethics research. Randi is an Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics, has an appointment in the Department of Surgery, and is a member of the Joint Centre for Bioethics, at the University of Toronto.

Randi has a degree in political science from McGill University, a law degree from Osgoode Hall, and both a Master of Laws degree and a PhD in bioethics from the University of Toronto. She practiced law at the Legal Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Health and is a member of local and national ethics related committees. Randi publishes on issues at the interface of law and ethics in paediatric health care and presents at conferences both nationally and internationally.

Randi’s current research interests include accountability in clinical care and research, and tensions and synergies between models of patient and family-centred care.
