Robert Gordon is the Chair of the Board of Governors of Bishop’s University. He has spent over 45 years in the public education sector, serving as President of Dawson College in Montreal, and as President of Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Toronto.

Dr. Gordon has served as President of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State and the Minister for Employment and Immigration on matters related to postsecondary education, as Leader-in-Residence of the Council for Emerging Leaders of the Conference Board of Canada, and served on the Premier’s Council of Ontario, where he chaired the Ontario Technology Fund. In addition to being Chair of the Board of Governors of Bishop’s University, Dr. Gordon is Chair of the Board of Waste Diversion Ontario, a Member of the Board of the Ontario Heritage Trust, and a Member of the Private Sector Advisory Board of the Networks of Centres of Excellence of Canada.

Dr. Gordon has been active locally, nationally and internationally, with many notable achievements in his career, including being appointed to the Order of Ontario and being awarded the Commemorative Medals for the Golden and Diamond Jubilees of Queen Elizabeth II, and the 128th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation Commemoration Medal.

Dr. Gordon holds graduate degrees from Bishop’s University, Harvard University, and the University of Massachusetts, and honorary degrees from Bishop’s University, the University of New Brunswick, the University of Guelph, and the University of Toronto.
