Michael Ter-Mikaelian

Michael Ter-Mikaelian is a research scientist at the Ontario Forest Research Institute of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Dr. Ter-Mikaelian graduated in 1979 from Moscow Institute of Electronic Machine Building, Moscow, USSR. In 1990, he received PhD in Environmental Protection and Management of Natural Resources at the Institute of Global Climate and Ecology, Moscow, USSR.

In 1992, he joined the Ontario Forest Research Institute to work with the Vegetation Management Alternatives Program. Since then, he has been providing modelling support to various projects on forest growth at a range of spatial and temporal scales. In 2003 Dr. Ter-Mikaelian became a part of the Ontario’s large-scale forest carbon budget modelling program. The focus of the program is to assess the current ― and predict the future ― carbon stocks in Ontario’s forests and harvested wood products, and to evaluate the effect of forest management on greenhouse gas emissions and removals.
