Hadi Mahabadi, O.C., FCAE

Dr. Mahabadi is an innovation leader with over 30 years of experience in invention and commercialization of novel technology, including seven years as VP of Xerox innovation Group and Director of Xerox Research centre of Canada. Dr. Mahabadi has been instrumental in creating an environment that increased innovativeness and successful commercialization of many breakthrough materials technologies for Xerox.

Dr. Mahabadi’s R&D leadership efforts have been recognized with many awards including two of Xerox Corporation’s highest awards, the University of Waterloo’s 2008 Alumni Achievement Medal, and the Printing Industry of America’s 2010 Robert F. Reed Technology Medal. He was also ranked as #1 among Print Action Magazine’s 50 most influential Canadians in Graphic Art Communications for 2008 and 2009. Dr. Mahabadi was elected to the Canadian Top 25 Successful Immigrants in 2010 and was selected as a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Dr. Mahabadi has also been involved in helping to shape science and technology strategy/ direction in Canada and advancing the science and technology agenda nationally and internationally. He has served on several national and regional committees/taskforces and boards such as the Ontario Centre of Excellence, the Chemical Institute of Canada and McMaster Innovation Park. He received his PhD in polymer engineering from University of Waterloo.
