Slavko Manojlovich

Slavko Manojlovich was born in England and at the age of two moved to Canada to pursue a career in librarianship. He achieved his dream in 1977 when he obtained his MLS from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University). Over the course of his career, he has worked at the Universities of Windsor, Saskatchewan, and Western in various capacities, including reference librarian, systems librarian, and data archivist.

Mr. Manojlovich has been at Memorial University for over 27 years, where he manages all aspects of library automation including the Digital Archives Initiative, one of the largest and most comprehensive regional digital archives in the country.

Career highlights include a research sabbatical leave at Stanford University as a Supported Researcher investigating bibliographic database management systems (1993); Associate Research Fellow, Texas Center for Digital Knowledge, University of North Texas (2001 to 2002); Committee member, Bath Profile and NISO U.S. Profile for Library Applications Committees, which developed interoperability standards to support the search and exchange of bibliographic and holdings data between library systems (1999 to 2003); and research sabbatical leave at Leicester University (United Kingdom) as a Supported Researcher investigating digital preservation best practices (2010).
