CCA Welcomes Jackie Dawson to its Scientific Advisory Committee

The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie Dawson, PhD, to its Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).

Dr. Dawson is the Canada Research Chair in Environment, Society and Policy (Tier II), and an Associate Professor in Geography at the University of Ottawa. She holds an MA from the School of Business (Tourism) from the University of Otago, and PhD in Geography from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Dawson’s research on the human and policy dimensions of environmental change focuses strongly on the implications of climate change and economic development for the Arctic shipping sector.

She was a member of the CCA’s Expert Panel on the Social and Economic Value of Marine Shipping to Canada, which produced the 2017 report The Value of Commercial Marine Shipping to Canada. She was also a workshop participant on the CCA’s 2016 report, Commercial Marine Shipping Accidents: Understanding the Risks in Canada.
