Kevin Kee

Since arriving at Brock University in 2005, Kevin Kee has worked to place the university at the forefront of digital humanities research and development, and to position Niagara at the leading edge of interactive media production. While at Brock, Dr. Kee has led or helped lead the conception and establishment of business incubators and generators (the Generator at One), undergraduate programs (the Interactive Arts and Sciences minor and major programs), conferences (the Interacting with Immersive Worlds Conferences), research projects, and symposia series.

Dr. Kee is interested in the use of computing to analyze and express culture—and history in particular—in innovative ways. His research lies at the intersection of history, computing, education, and game studies. Many of his research projects (such as the Ontario Augmented Reality Network) develop and support university to public- and private-sector technology transfers and partnerships. He created a corporation to train interactive media entrepreneurs, and with his teams he has produced history websites, games, and simulations. He has published books and articles on the use of computer simulations for history and history teaching and learning, and on Canadian cultural history. He won a 2012 Brock University Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Kee received both his MA and PhD in History from Queen’s University.
