Sarah Sargent is the Vice-President of Risk Reduction Programs at the Canadian Red Cross. Previously, she was Director of Partnerships at the Red Cross and worked internationally as a Child Protection and Education Specialist for UNICEF. Her work supports community based programs addressing climate change and extreme weather threats and identifying means to prepare for, mitigate, or limit those threats. Ms. Sargent leads domestic planning and national initiatives related to Disaster Risk Reduction, Violence Risk Reduction, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.
Ms. Sargent was a member of the Government of Canada’s Expert Panel on Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Results (2018).
Ms. Sargent holds a BA degree in Education from Guilford College and a master’s degree in Applied Education Leadership and Management from the Institute of Education at the University of London. In her career internationally, she has led policy change initiatives to strengthen child protection systems and education reform.
