CCA Appoints Expert Panel on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and Shared Mobility

The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) has appointed a distinguished group to the Expert Panel on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and Shared Mobility. The Panel will be chaired by Jeannette Montufar, PhD, FCAE, Founding Partner and CEO at MORR Transportation Consulting Ltd.

“I am delighted to be chairing this Panel and tackling such a dynamic and important issue,” said Dr. Montufar. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to develop a report that addresses some of the critical opportunities and challenges these technologies present.”

As Chair, Dr. Montufar will lead a multidisciplinary, multisectoral panel of individuals with extensive expertise, experience and leadership in engineering, industry, economics and innovation, environment and health, public safety, sociology, and ethics. The Panel will address the following question:

In light of the current trends affecting the evolution of connected and automated vehicle technologies and shared mobility, what impacts, opportunities, and challenges do these present for Canadian industry, governments, and Canadians more broadly?“We look forward to drawing on Dr. Montufar’s wealth of knowledge and experience in transportation engineering, as well as the Panel’s diverse expertise,” said Eric M. Meslin, PhD, FCAHS, President and CEO of the CCA. “I’m confident that this assessment will be a valuable addition to the growing body of evidence on the implications of these technologies.”The CCA was asked by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to undertake this project.
