The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Paul Allison to is Board of Directors.
Dr. Paul Allison, FCAHS, is Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, at McGill University. He is currently in his second five-year mandate as Dean and is President of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry and President-Elect of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS). Dr. Allison’s research interests include psychosocial and social determinants of oral health and oral health care, including issues of access to health care.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Paul Allison to our Board,” said Margaret Bloodworth, C.M., Chair of the Board. “We look forward to drawing on his significant knowledge and experience during his term.”
The CCA Board of Directors consists of 12 members. Each of its three Member Academies – the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences – nominate two directors. The three Member Academies elect two directors from the general public. The remaining four directors are nominated by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) and are formally elected by the Member Academies at the Annual General Meeting. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the CCA, including fulfillment of its mandate and oversight of its operations.
