Brian C. Martinson

Dr. Martinson is formally trained in Sociology and Demography (University of Wisconsin-Madison), with postdoctoral training in cardiovascular behavioural health (University of Minnesota). Dr. Martinson brings an eclectic disciplinary perspective to his research with a particular penchant for perspectives joining the social and psychological. Questions of motivation, individual choice and structural constraints within which individuals negotiate choices are recurring themes in his work. For the past decade he has conducted health services and health promotion research at HealthPartners Research Foundation. Dr. Martinson has more than 20 years experience in conducting and analyzing survey-based research, and since 2003 he has led and worked as co-investigator on several behavioural intervention randomized trials focused on physical activity and weight-loss. Since 2002, Dr. Martinson has been pursuing a program of research examining research integrity and its relationship to the structural organization and funding of science. Most recently, that work has focused on developing and propagating a research integrity climate assessment tool.
