Brian McFadden is President and Chief Operating Officer of Montreal-based Prestige Telecom Inc., a leading provider of Engineering, Materials Furnishing and Installation services to the Telecommunications and Cable TV network service providers across Canada.
In 1977, Mr. McFadden joined Nortel to begin a 28-year career during which he held various engineering, product management and general management positions including President, Optical Networks Division and Chief Technology Officer. His career included ex pat assignments in Seoul, South Korea and Maidenhead, England.
Mr. McFadden represented Nortel on the board of the Information Technology Association of Canada and the FCC Network Reliability Council in the U.S.; and in August 2005, he led the effort to prepare and submit Nortel’s corporate submission to the Federal Government Telecommunications Policy Review Panel. The submission made several recommendations regarding future Telecom Policy in the areas of industry structure, financial considerations, and technological factors.
Mr. McFadden has a keen interest in the combination of technology innovations and the commercialization of these innovations to achieve market success. For several years Mr. McFadden represented Nortel on the board of the Nortel Research Institute at the University of Waterloo and the Industry Steering Committee for the not-for-profit Internet 2 organization in the U.S.
Mr. McFadden received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1977. He received the Engineering Alumni Achievement Medal from the University of Waterloo in October 2003.
