Debra Davidson is Professor of Environmental Sociology in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology at the University of Alberta.
She is a Lead Author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Working Group II Assessment Report 5. She is also Director of Prairie Urban Farm at the University of Alberta. Her primary areas of research and teaching include the social dimensions of food, energy, and climate change, with a particular focus on the topics of non-conventional fossil fuels development, regional-level climate change impacts and adaptation, and urban agriculture.
Dr. Davidson’s recent publications have been featured in Science, Global Environmental Change, British Journal of Sociology, and Sustainability. She is also the co-editor of Consuming Sustainability: Critical Social Analyses of Ecological Change, Fernwood (2005), and co-author of Challenging Legitimacy at the Precipice of Energy Calamity, Springer (2011).
