Gordon Feller

Gordon Feller is Director, Urban Innovations at Cisco Systems. Mr. Feller works with leaders on a worldwide basis, in both public and private sectors. In this capacity he either leads or supports some of Cisco’s most ambitious initiatives. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in international affairs, both from Columbia University, both of them cum laude. He received numerous fellowships and scholarships from Columbia and went on to win additional fellowships after completing his work at the university.

Prior to joining Cisco IBSG, Mr. Feller was CEO of the Urban Age Institute, which fosters leadership and innovation among cities in the areas of strategic urban planning, policy, and management; and planning for sustainable economic growth. For nearly 30 years, Mr. Feller has advised leaders of multinational companies, cities, NGOs / foundations, and national governments on urban development issues. Mr. Feller had worked on projects in more than 40 countries.

Mr. Feller also advises leaders on how information and communications technology can help solve complex urban environmental problems, such as reducing carbon emissions, while developing practical and forward-looking solutions that intersect economics, technology, and sustainability. His work is the basis of a documentary film and other multimedia projects. Mr. Feller has written hundreds of articles for newspapers, scholarly journals, and magazines, including CFO Magazine, Urban Land Magazine, TIME, and Financial Times. He was formerly executive editor of Urban Age Magazine and Planet Earth magazine. Mr. Feller is the author or editor of several books or book chapters and numerous peer-reviewed scholarly articles which have been published in international research journals.
