Dr. John Molson joined the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at Laval University as an Assistant Professor in September 2008. He holds the Canada Research Chair in Quantitative Hydrogeology of Fractured Porous Media and is Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Molson completed his university studies at the University of Waterloo, where he completed his B.Sc. in Earth Sciences in 1985, and earned his M.Sc. and PhD in Hydrogeology in 1988 and 2000, respectively. He is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (P. Eng.) and the Order of Engineers of Quebec (Ing).
In his research, Dr. Molson develops and applies computer models to simulate reactive transport processes in porous and fractured porous media, including groundwater flow, heat transfer and transport of reactive contaminants. He is currently involved in several modelling projects related to the vulnerability and protection of water supply wells, groundwater flow systems within regional watersheds, remediation of groundwater contaminated by petroleum hydrocarbons, thermal tracers for aquifer characterization and the behavior of acid mine drainage.
