John Pomeroy

John Pomeroy is the Canada Research Chair in Water Resources and Climate Change (Tier 1). Dr. Pomeroy is also Professor of Geography and Director of the Centre for Hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan, an Honorary Professor at the Centre for Glaciology, Aberystwyth University, Wales, and an Institute Professor for the Biogeoscience Institute at the University of Calgary.

He serves as President of the International Commission for Snow and Ice Hydrology (ICSIH); Chair of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) Prediction in Ungauged Basins (PUB) initiative; Project Lead for the Improved Processes and Parameterisation for Prediction in Cold Regions (IP3 Network), and the SGI Canada Hydrometeorology Programme; and Co-lead of the Drought Research Initiative (DRI) Network. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Watersheds Climate Research Collaborative in Canmore.

Dr. Pomeroy’s current research interests are on the impact of land use and climate change on cold and semi-arid region hydrology, snow physics, mountain hydrology, and hydrological predictions in ungauged basins.

Dr. Pomeroy holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering (1988) and B.Sc. Honours in Geography (1983) from the University of Saskatchewan.
