John R. Muir

John Muir was Director, Energy Policy and Government Affairs at General Electric (GE) Canada. Previously, he was GE Energy’s Country Executive for Canada, responsible for GE’s commercial activities and growth agenda in Canada.

Mr. Muir has over 35 years of experience in the power generation industry, with the last 22 being with General Electric. He has previously held positions in sales, marketing, engineering, customer service, and information management.

Mr. Muir is Past Chair of the Energy Council of Canada, former member of the Canadian Electricity Association Corporate Partners Council and Generation Council, former Vice-Chair of the Toronto Board of Trade’s Electricity Task Force, and former Chair of the National Electricity Roundtable’s Export Committee.

Mr. Muir attended the University of Waterloo and graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
