Josh Greenberg

Dr. Josh Greenberg (PhD, McMaster) is Associate Professor of Communication and Director in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University. He is cross-appointed in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and is the lead investigator of the Communication, Risk and Public Health Research Group. Before joining the School of Journalism and Communication, he was a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton.

Dr. Greenberg’s areas of interest and expertise include: communication and public health, risk communication, crisis and issues management, social media, and qualitative methods. He has published several papers on these and other topics in leading Canadian and international journals.

Dr. Greenberg has worked closely with the Public Health Agency of Canada, providing research support for the development of the agency’s new emergency-risk communications protocol. He has also enjoyed a productive research relationship with Ottawa Public Health and has worked closely over several years with numerous community organizations serving Ottawa’s homeless sector advising on strategic communication, crisis management, risk mitigation and public advocacy.
