Kelly Cantwell is Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning for Emera. In this role Ms. Cantwell is responsible for development of Emera’s corporate strategy and for the development of strategy for Emera Newfoundland and Labrador. Commercial negotiations are a key part of this position.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Cantwell was Director of Renewable Energy for Nova Scotia Power Inc. In this position, she was responsible for bringing renewable energy onto the grid in significant amounts. In particular, Ms. Cantwell was instrumental in the successful negotiation and approval to bring 60MW of biomass cogeneration on line. Ms. Cantwell is a former board member of the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy.
Since joining Emera in 1999 she has held various roles including Manager of Market Intelligence, Manager Regulatory Affairs and Manager, Generation Planning. Prior to joining Nova Scotia Power, Ms. Cantwell worked for CentralPower Ltd, an electric utility in New Zealand and British Gas plc in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Ms. Cantwell graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and from St. Mary’s University with a Masters of Business Administration in 2003.
