Laxmi Sushama, PhD, P.eng., is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Trottier Chair in Sustainability in Engineering and Design at McGill University. She previously held a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Regional Climate Modelling at Centre ESCER, University of Québec at Montréal. By integrating high latitude land processes, and their feedbacks and interactions into climate models, her research strongly influenced regional climate modelling applications for cold regions. Her current research also focuses on the climate-infrastructure-sustainability nexus with a special emphasis on urban and Arctic regions, using hybrid modelling approaches and advanced engineering analyses.

Prof. Sushama has served on several national and international committees and scientific review panels/boards and has also led research networks such as the Canadian Network for Regional Climate and Weather Processes.
