Randall Morck

Dr. Randall Morck is the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Distinguished Chair in Finance and University Professor at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Morck graduated summa cum laude from Yale in 1979, and earned a PhD from Harvard in 1986, where he returns periodically as a visiting professor. He is also a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Senior Research Associate with Harvard Law School’s Labor and Worklife Program.

Dr. Morck has published over 70 articles on corporate governance, corporate ownership, corporate finance, and political economy in academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, and the Journal of Financial Economics; as well as op-ed pieces for the Edmonton Journal, Financial Times of London, Globe and Mail, and National Post. His research papers include some of the first systematic investigations of corporate governance. Dr. Morck has served as a consultant to the Canadian and U.S. governments, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund on corporate governance and other economic issues.

In 2006, Dr. Morck was granted the highest academic honour that can be bestowed on a faculty member at the University of Alberta: the title of University Professor. He holds numerous other academic awards for teaching and research achievements.
