Roy Varghese

Roy Varghese is the Director for Azure infrastructure for High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Microsoft. In this role, Roy is responsible for supporting the public sector, defense industrial base, and climate/weather customers in the Americas leverage the power of Azure to enhance science, efficiency, and citizen services.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Roy was a member of the Senior Executive Service and spent almost 12 years at the US Judiciary and the US NOAA Fisheries. At NOAA fisheries, Roy served on the NOAA HPC Board and as CIO was responsible for providing and modernizing the IT infrastructure and digital innovation for fisheries’ scientific research and regulatory priorities. Prior to joining the US Federal Government, Roy served in various operations and marketing positions in the financial and technology sector in the United States. Roy has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a master’s degree in business administration from Johns Hopkins University.
