William Logan

William Logan is a Senior Staff Officer for the Water Science and Technology Board of the National Research Council in Washington.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Logan was employed by George Washington University, the Association of Geoscientists for International Development (AGID) and Phillips Petroleum.

Since joining the NRC in 1999, Dr. Logan has directed studies related to aquifer storage and recovery in the Florida Everglades and managed underground storage of recoverable water. He was also responsible for reports on Groundwater Research and National Water-Use Information Programs of the U.S. Geological Survey as well as groundwater recharge and discharge issues, river science, and space-based and in-situ sensor technology.

Dr. Logan’s scientific interests are in coastal and urban hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, and wetlands hydrology. He has worked or studied in numerous countries in Latin America and Asia and has geology degrees from Earlham College and the University of Texas as well as a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo.
