The Council of Canadian Academies announced today that Sioban Nelson, RN, PhD, FCAN, FAAN, FCAHS has been named Interim Chair of its Board of Directors. Dr. Nelson succeeds David Dodge, PhD, O.C., FRSC, who stepped down from the CCA Board in June 2021.
“Dr. Nelson has been a valued member of the CCA Board since 2020, and I am pleased that she has assumed this leadership role as we continue to advance our mission of providing the best evidence to inform policy decisions,” said CCA President and CEO Eric M. Meslin, PhD, FRSC, FCAHS.
Dr. Sioban Nelson is a historian and policy scholar, a fellow of the American Academy of Nurses, a Charter Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Nurses, and fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Dr. Nelson is the former Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto, where she has also served as Vice Provost. She is president of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and serves on the Board of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
