Vasa Lukich

Researcher

Vasa Lukich is a Researcher at the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA). She joined the CCA in June 2020 through the internship program. She is responsible for researching, writing, and providing project management support on various assessments.

Her doctoral research involved the dating and reconstruction of past environments at an archaeological locality in South Africa, in order to understand the history of human occupation and behaviour at the site for the last 200,000 years. Vasa continues to engage with research on human evolution and palaeoclimate, and maintains affiliation with the Archaeology Centre at the University of Toronto. Beyond academics, Vasa is committed to sharing her enthusiasm for science with a wider audience in both academic and public domains. She is a Science Outside the Lab North alumna and co-founder of the Toronto Science Policy Network.

Vasa holds a B.Sc. (Hon.) in Archaeological Sciences with a minor in Geology from the University of Toronto, a M.Sc. in Quaternary Science from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Toronto. She has published several research articles and presented at national and international academic conferences throughout her career.

She has worked on the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and Shared Mobility and Natural Disaster Resilience assessments.
