The Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy McNeil, C.M., FRSC, to its Board of Directors.
Dr. McNeil is a Distinguished University Professor and the Helen Battle Professor of Chemical Ecology, in the Department of Biology, at Western University. From 1972 to 2012 Dr. McNeil was a professor at Laval University, and in 2013 was a Humboldt Fellow at Hamburg University. For over 30 years he has been engaged, both at home and abroad, in activities relating to the public awareness of science. In 2014 he was appointed to the Order of Canada for his research and for his dedication to increasing public appreciation of science. In 2016 he received the NSERC Award (Individual) for Science Promotion. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) and served as the RSC Foreign Secretary from 2010 to 2017. He is currently President-Elect of the RSC.
The CCA’s Board of Directors is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring fulfillment of the CCA’s mandate and oversight of the CCA’s operations.
