The role of the Scientific Advisory Committee is to advise the CCA’s board with respect to assessment topic selection, terms of reference, and peer review. The Committee also provides advice on expert panel selection.
In April 2019, the Scientific Advisory Committee formed a S&T Methods Subcommittee to examine the challenges and limitations of current methods used to assess Canada’s strengths in science and technology (S&T) and research and development (R&D).
The subcommittee’s mandate is to explore the methodologies available for assessing Canada’s S&T and R&D strengths and activities and to identify improved methodologies that may address limitations documented in past assessments. Its recommendations will inform any future assessments that CCA undertakes in this area.
